CRASHHHHH!

Wow.  What a phenomenal movie that is still keeping me think and will forever. One of my favorite things about this movie was that they covered racism coming from every different race.  Each race said or acted in a racist way towards another.  I think that L.A. is a very interesting city.  They have more races than all other cities and they are just stuffed in there.  In class we talked about having high end houses right next to not so priveleged house holds.  I think that in a way Durango has a few places like that.  For example it is always weird driving out of Rockridge and driving threw the trailer park.  Completely different life styles right next to each other. Somehow we make it work.  I think that we dont have much crazy racism problems in Durango because we have always been a town where "Mexicans" are and we get along.

Christopher Columbus...HERO or VILIAN?

Think that it is no doubt that Columbus is a Villian.  Sure he founded America and if he hadnt we may not be where we are now but he did terrible terrible things while and after finding America. I also dont think Columbus is the only one to blame though.  I think we can put a little bit of blame on the King and Queen of Spain.  I believe that Columbus wanted to discover the Americas and explore because of the fame and respect he would gain.  And god all mighty did he get those very things.  We celebrate Columbus day as if he discovered America and it all fell into place just like that.  When really there is alot more too it.  He was not looking to discover America, he was looking to find India.  When he got to America and discovered the Indians he acted as if they were nothing and we could just take advantage of them.  That is exactly what he did.  I think that he is one of the reasons we have been racist people and a racist country.  When he got to the Americas he killed Ninety Eight percent of the Indians already living there.  That is a genocide.  Anyone who wipes out a race at that immensity should in no way what so ever be considered a Hero.  After he did these horrid things to the Indians we then felt like we could take advantage of many other races in America.  We moved the Indians into the west while they had the east first.  We made other Europeans pay to get over and then work again in our work shops as slaves.  And lets not forget the African people we brought over to work and beat.  Im not saying that there wasnt racist people or issues around the world before this but we really start noticing in the time that Columbus came to the Americas.
